It is with great sadness that Cycling Ulster has learned of the tragic death of Paul Healion, one of Ireland's most promising cyclists. Paul, who was only 31, died following a car crash in Co Louth, when his car.
Paul was well known to many of our time trialists here as he was a frequent participant in the Dave Kane League and competed in the Ulster 25 mile Championships last Thursday evening. He was also the winnner of the Eric Maxwell Time trial promoted by West Down Wheelers for the past two years. He won a stage of the FBD Rás this year and was the National Criterium Champion for 2009 a title which he also won in 2001. Last year he stormed to victory to take the National Time Trial title for the second time winning the Championships previously in 2000.
Paul was also a leading member of the National Track squad and has represented Ireland in numerous competitions.
